Multiple Award Winning Author, Joe R. Lansdale, and Area Actor Jeff East Headline at Kansas City’s Longest Running Science Fiction Convention!
KANSAS CITY, MO ~ April 29, 2008: ConQuesT, Kansas City’s longest running Science Fiction and Fantasy convention will celebrate college life with the theme of “Fandom University”. The convention runs May 23 – 25, 2008 at the Kansas City Airport Hilton. Activities scheduled include autograph sessions, author's readings, a benefit auction, panel discussions, an art show and auction, exhibitor's room, a masquerade contest, an Authors and Artist’s toga party, a British Invasion film room, an Old Time Radio listening lounge and several types of gaming.
The 39th annual convention, ConQuesT 39, will present a variety of guests of honor.* Joe R. Lansdale (Author Guest of Honor), with more than 20 books to his credit, has won multiple awards including five Bram Stoker horror awards, a British Fantasy Award, the American Mystery Award and the Horror Critics Award. Lansdale has the reputation of a “champion mojo storyteller”. David Lee Anderson (Artist Guest of Honor) has displayed his work at over 400 conventions. His art has graced the pages of book and magazine publishers such as Tor Books, BAEN Books, and Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine. Jeff East (Special Media Guest of Honor) is the actor who has portrayed “Young Clark Kent” in Superman: The Movie, starred in the locally filmed TV movie The Day After, and has worked behind the camera as a writer and producer. Ellen Muth (Special Media Guest of Honor) played the grim reaper “Georgia (George) Lass” in the hit TV Show and upcoming movie Dead Like Me. She won best supporting actress at the Japanese Film Festival for her role in Dolores Claiborne.
